Oltre i confini della razionalità

Il contributo di Angelo Volpe prende in esame fondamentalmente due oggetti: primo, la potenzialità indiscussa nella sociologia contemporanea degli approcci individualistici e razionali e, secondo, la necessità di trascendere la gabbia stessa della razionalità e di andare oltre. Ciò che l’autore auspica è la realizzazione di un “modello a spettro intero” per l’analisi dei fatti sociali, un modello che possa espandere il raggio d’azione della comprensione sociologica al di là di ciò che possiamo vedere e misurare razionalmente.

The contribution of Angelo Volpe essentially examines two objects: first, the unquestioned potentiality in contemporary sociology of individualistic and rational approaches, and, second, the need to transcend the very cage of rationality and go further. What the author hopes is the realization of a “full-spectrum model” for the analysis of social events, a model that can expand the scope of sociological understanding beyond what we can see and measure rationally.

L’alterità, il dialogo e il conflitto inconciliabile: dall’eroe tragico all’hyper self di Elster

Francesca Castaldo propone un articolo sul tema dell’alterità, portatrice potenziale di ostilità, con un focus su quel tipo di conflitto che non trova soluzioni: il conflitto “inconciliabile”. Partendo dallaconstatazione che l’ineliminabile diversità possa generare conflitti tra persone, stati, alleanze contrapposte, questo lavoro muove dall’ipotesi che alcuni degli apparati concettuali usati nello studio dei conflitti interpersonali possano essere applicati all’analisi dei conflitti intrapersonali. La diversità, poi, lungi dall’essere concepita solo in relazione a più soggetti, può essere osservata anche all’interrno dello stesso individuo.

E il conflitto non è sempre negativo ma può essere risolvibile – grazie al dialogo, all’educazione al confronto, alla cultura del diverso – e, a certe condizioni, persino proficuo. Esistono, tuttavia, alcune circostanze nelle quali il conflitto rimane insoluto. Tra queste, l’articolo tratta del conflitto “interno” all’in-dividuo, esaminando due tipologie emblematiche di azione, quella dell’eroe della tragedia greca e quella, più moderna, dell’iper-sé elsteriano.

Francesca Castaldo proposes an article on otherness which potentially leads to hostilities, with a focus on that type of conflict that does not find solutions: the irreconcilable conflict. Starting from the fact that the unavoidable diversity can lead to conflict between people, states, opposing alliances, this paper moves from the hypothesis that some of the conceptual apparatus used in the study of interpersonal conflicts can be applied to the analysis of intrapersonal conflicts. Furthermore the diversity, far from being conceived only between subjects, can also be observed within the same individual. And the conflict is not always negative but can be solved – through dialogue, education and different culture confrontation – and even profitable under certain conditions. However there are some circumstances in which the conflict remains unresolved. Among these the article deals with the internal conflict by examining two types of symbolic action, the tragic hero and the more modern Elster hyper self.

La condizione femminile nell’islam è spesso rappresentata in occidente attraverso stereotipi ormai cristallizzati nel tempo, che però non rendono giustizia a un importante movimento di emancipazione delle donne che dalla seconda metà del diciannovesimo secolo si è diffuso in quasi tutto il mondo arabo. Attraverso un’analisi delle fonti del diritto islamico e dei paesi arabi (alla luce della dialettica tra sharì‘ a e qanùn), si cerca qui di ricostruire il dibattito giuridico, culturale e sociale interno al mondo arabo sul diritto di famiglia (in particolare sulle questioni controverse di poligamia e ripudio) e sulla questione del velo, sempre più attuale, attraverso un approccio multidisciplinare.

The role of women in Islam is often highlighted in the West through long lasting stereotypes, neglecting the important women’s liberation movement taking place in the Arab world from the second half of the nineteenth century. Focusing on Islamic law and law of Arab countries (through the dichotomy between sharì‘a and qanùn), this article aims at portraying the legal, cultural and social debate in the Arab world concerning family law (more specifically the crucial issues of polygamy and repudiation) and the very present-day topic of veil.
